As has become a tradition for the end-of-year holidays, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, visited the turkey market in Baldushk, an area known for raising them. He invited the citizens of Tirana, but also accommodation structures, such as hotels, guesthouses, etc., to buy turkey in Baldushk, as a way to contribute to the economy of the area.
"When you buy a product produced in our village, you have contributed to the family of our village. This means that you have contributed to these children buying their school books, their clothes, attending an after-school course, engaging in cultural activities, so I invite everyone to see it as a mission to ensure well-being in this community, to help the boys and girls, men and women, who work their whole lives and all year with this product, which is a source of pride for our Tirana," said Veliaj.
He described Baldushku's turkey as the best product of its kind in Albania and the Balkans. "This area produces 30-50 thousand turkeys every year, which translates into 3-5 million euros which are invested in this single week of the end-of-year holidays, in this community. This land can produce an economy, it can produce well-being and the fact that many of the farmers, who until yesterday worked the lands of the Greeks and Italians, today work their own land, raise their own turkeys, cultivate their own farm. It means that you can do good and the economy here in Albania too," he said.
Praising the farmers for their hard work in raising organic turkeys, the mayor called on all citizens to buy turkeys from Baldushk. "May the hands of all farmers, all those who deal with agriculture and their farms with love, be blessed. It is an extraordinary opportunity, not to leave this land. This land can produce economy, it can produce well-being. Therefore, I invite all citizens of Tirana, all the bars of Tirana, all the hotels of Tirana, the guesthouses, to buy only Baldushk turkeys," concluded Veliaj.
