Veliaj: In the 2025 budget, free meals for Tirana school students

By 2025, every student in Tirana will have equal treatment, being offered free meals.
"What we have seen in many of our schools is that in different neighborhoods of Tirana, children are fed differently. There is clearly a lack of calories and vitamins. Therefore, the Municipality of Tirana is bringing a solidarity philosophy. What we say, as leftists, is that everyone should have an equal start. Therefore, the most important decision of the municipality for 2025, for this budget, is free meals for all students of Tirana, as an opportunity to give all children an equal start," said Veliaj.
He underlined that the budget focuses on people who need support the most, starting with children, students and the elderly. Veliaj added that, also this year, the Municipality of Tirana will continue to subsidize 100% of the subscription for students, as well as for pensioners.
"Children and students need it most, so we are focusing on schools, kindergartens and nurseries. Students also need it, so we will again subsidize the student pass 100%. In fact, this is the first budget that subsidizes with 192 thousand lek per year, 16 thousand lek per month, the general transport pass for all our grandparents. We would like to bring a new spirit of solidarity, support, left and beautiful, to our municipality and to our city, with free food, free pass and half-paid dormitories from the municipality," he said.
