The first case of measles in the country is confirmed. The child came from England

The Ministry of Health has announced that the first case of measles has been confirmed in Albania. According to the official announcement, it concerns an unvaccinated child, who presented for medical assistance on December 22 and after examinations was diagnosed with this infectious disease.
The data shows that the child had recently arrived from the United Kingdom, while the case has been continuously monitored by the Institute of Public Health. Health authorities explain that the situation is considered controlled and that there is no indication of the spread of the infection.
Currently, the child is under the care of doctors at the infectious pediatrics service, where he is receiving the necessary treatment. In the meantime, the IHP has completed the epidemiological investigation and so far no other suspected or confirmed cases have been identified.
The Institute of Public Health continues to closely monitor the situation and appeals to parents to respect the vaccination calendar, as an essential measure for the prevention of infectious diseases, including measles.
