We finally know which foods really raise cholesterol and which ones lower it

We finally know which foods really raise cholesterol and which ones lower it

What really raises blood fats? According to recent studies, the answer is clearer than ever.

For years, eggs have been considered a cholesterol-raising food due to their high cholesterol content. However, new research shows that the cholesterol we get from food has very little impact on the level of LDL (“bad”) cholesterol in the blood.

The reason is that the liver regulates its own cholesterol production: when we get more from food, it produces less.

Instead, the main causes of increased LDL cholesterol are saturated fats, which are mainly found in:

Red meat Butter
Processed
products
Some fast foods

On the other hand, some foods help reduce harmful cholesterol, such as:

Oats and foods rich in soluble fiber
Nuts

Salmon and other fish rich in unsaturated fats

Studies have also found that very low-carb diets, such as the ketogenic diet, can cause significant increases in cholesterol in some people, especially in physically weaker individuals. This is also linked to changes that occur in the gut microbiome.

Scientists emphasize that while medicine is moving towards personalized nutrition, cholesterol management does not depend solely on a single food, but on the overall way of eating.
