As you are aware, due to the COVID-19 situation, the Consular Office in New York has been closed since March 17 and reopened on June 21, the day the Governor of New York allowed the offices to reopen, within the second phase of reopening.

The reopening of the offices was allowed by requesting the implementation of all measures envisaged to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. In accordance with these measures and in order to rigorously implement the parameters required by the state of New York for compliance with the rules of stay, social distance and waiting time within the premises of the Consular Office, we note that the maximum number of Albanian citizens who can show up on a certain day and receive services at the Consular Office will not exceed the figure of 16 persons.

For the above reasons, with your understanding, the Consular Office will initially proceed with citizens who have been postponed the scheduled appointment date for obtaining a new passport due to the pandemic. Next, the Consular Office will begin handling new applications.

The Consular Office has increased its capacity and is working at maximum capacity, in order to determine within the fastest possible time the dates of submission of citizens.

Please note that the production period of the Passport and Identity Card will already require a TIME of 10-12 WEEKS FROM THE DAY OF APPLICATION AT THE CONSULAR OFFICE.

The Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs together with the company Aleat have decided that the distribution of Passports and Identity Cards will be done through the postal service. So, citizens need to appear at the consular office only at the time of application.

Thank you for your understanding.
