A severe winter storm hit the US state of Texas leaving millions without electricity for several days, but the Albanian-born couple who own a restaurant in Texas opened their doors to the community, offering them hot meals.
The owners of 'Bella Italia Ristorante' also did not have lights but they had gas to cook. The owner Ari Isufaj decided to open the kitchen and offer free meals for those in need, with lasagna or spaghetti.
"We can not stay and do nothing when our community is suffering," the restaurant owner wrote in a Facebook post.
Bella Italia Ristorante ended up serving free meals to more than 500 people in just three hours on Wednesday we left behind. The restaurant also delivered 80 meals to a church the day before.
"People were saying this was their first warm meal in two or three days. It's a sensation I can't describe."
Isufaj posted a video on the restaurant's Facebook page this week showing the kitchen staff as they prepared the free food.
"We are not open to the public, we are only here to feed these amazing people who really need it," he says in the video.
Their gesture got the attention of media known as the US, like Fox News.
