Coca-Cola Bottling Albania (CCBS), an authorized partner for 31 years for the production, packaging, distribution and sale of Coca-Cola products in Albania, presents its second Sustainability Report, which reflects the results achieved and consolidates the plan to become the first Carbon Neutral company in Albania by 2030. An objective that is taking shape through concrete investments and measurable results: from renewable energies to sustainable mobility, from packaging innovation to employee development.
The report, prepared by Deloitte Albania and certified by Ernst & Young, reflects the actions taken by CCBS and demonstrates the company's ongoing commitment to sustainability, expressed through measurable results and value created for customers, employees, stakeholders and the community.
“Every year this document helps us translate our commitment into measurable actions and has become an integral part of our development strategy,” – emphasizes Luca Busi, President of CCBS. – “Sustainability is not just a chapter of our activity; it is the very heart of our industrial identity. The figures allow us to assess whether our performance truly reflects the values in which we believe and which guide every daily choice we make, from protecting the environment to investing in people.”
The 2024 report demonstrates the ability to adapt and be resilient in a rapidly changing reality. Key indicators of this report are: thanks to the production of energy from photovoltaic plants, renewable energy covered 43% of the company's electricity needs. In terms of sustainable mobility, CCBS operates a fully electric sales fleet in Tirana, Durrës, Elbasan and Vlorë, supported by a dedicated fast-charging infrastructure. These investments enabled CCBS to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1, directly linked to business operations) by 786 tons of CO₂ compared to the previous year.
Packaging development has also made significant strides: 83% of the materials used come from renewable sources (+2% compared to last year). In parallel, CCBS has achieved a significant improvement in the use of recycled materials, which account for 46% of all materials used for primary and secondary packaging, an increase of 33% compared to 2023.
Great attention was paid to employees: the team grew to 394 associates and 6,020 hours of training were provided. With 83% of the supply chain made up of local suppliers, CCBS ensured that 93% of the economic value generated remained in the market, bringing development and concrete benefits to the community.
“Our path to Carbon Neutrality 2030 is ambitious,” continues Busi, “but we know it is possible thanks to the commitment of employees, partners and communities. This report helps us to set priorities, seize opportunities and responsibly face the challenges of our time. Our ambition is not only to confirm the leadership of CCBS, but to continue to do more, with the conviction that Albania can truly become an international laboratory of sustainable innovation.”
The CCBS Sustainability Report 2024 is available to stakeholders, institutions, universities, chambers of commerce and organizations committed to sustainability, with the aim of fostering a constructive dialogue between the public and private sectors across the country. Through transparent and verified reporting, CCBS reaffirms that collaboration is essential to accelerate positive change in Albania and is proud to be part of this journey, which includes not only the business community, but the entire society.
