In an era where technology is present in every aspect of our lives, the digital world offers endless opportunities for connection, learning, and entertainment. But what seems like a magical world hides serious dangers, especially for children who often navigate without a compass, in a jungle of “connections” and unfiltered information.

A leader in telecommunications for 24 years, Vodafone Albania launched the 1-year “Digital Parenting” campaign, following Vodafone Group’s initiatives with the same theme in the UK and Ireland, to provide parents with the right information and tools to help their children use technology and the internet in the safest, most responsible and healthy way. The digital guide launched by Vodafone, available on all Vodafone Albania digital channels, constitutes the largest and most trusted online database in Albania and includes practical instructions on how parents can set limits on device use, supervise the content their children watch and develop open communication about the online world, while helping them benefit from the opportunities that technology offers.

Vodafone Albania brought an innovation to the Albanian market in the way it launched the "Digital Parenting" campaign, with an unconventional event between two generations in the hall of the National Puppet Theater, conceived as a triptych show, which combined the monologue stories "The Genie from the Screen - a fairy tale from the future with magic and shadow", a talk show with 6 children aged 9-15 interviewed by their parents, touching on the topics of the main risks from the digital world, as well as the launch of the Digital Parenting Guide and the "Happy Talk Kids Watch" monitoring device.

In the introductory monologue “Once upon a time…” narrated by Jonida Lakuriqi, Director of Legal, Public Policy & External Relations, Chairwoman of the Vodafone Albania Foundation, strong and emotional messages were conveyed, through the symbolism of the Genie who no longer comes out of the Lamp, but from the Magic Screen and fulfills every request or wish of the children, with just a touch of the screen, turning them, in fact, without their realizing it, into the dependence of the Genie who from a useful servant is turning into a dangerous God, who commands our lives. Through the parallelism between two generations raised in different eras, when the childhood of the parents was lived in front of the black and white TV, with paper notebooks, with games in the yard and in the Puppet Theater, where the event itself was held, and what the children are living today, with pixels and avatars, who slowly, seem to be drowning in the blue light of the screen.

Ms. Lakuriqi's narrative monologue ended with the message that constituted the essence of the Digital Parenting campaign concept: "Let's preserve the light of the magic Lamp. Since when children express a wish with a touch of the screen, it should be beautiful, meaningful, with faith and hope for the best. For what the Millennial generation brought as a promise. The screen genie, as an extraordinary and useful servant, every time after carrying out God's orders, "switched" on the Lamp, so that they, the people, could dream, create and love for a lifetime. As only people, the most magical creatures in the Universe, know!".

In the "Peter Pan talk show" style panel, children Hana Bushati (15 years old), Brian Salaj (14 years old), Aila Mosho (13 years old), Matis and Siena Çibuku (9 years old) exchanged experiences and curiosities with their parents Manjola Bushati Lloja, Blendi Salaj, Viola Puci and Jonida Lakuriqi, on the use of devices and social networks; screen addiction, mental health; exposure to violent content and online bullying; dangers from unknown persons (Grooming); social pressure; violation of privacy and use of personal data. The talk show was accompanied for each topic with videos and worrying global statistics on the dangers of the digital world.

The event "Shadows of the Digital World - A Tale from the Future" will be followed by a series of events that Vodafone Albania will organize within the framework of the "Digital Parenting" campaign.
