WhatsApp, the world's most used messaging app, will stop working on some older Android and iOS devices starting May 1, 2025. This decision comes after a new update from the company Meta, with a focus on security and performance improvements.
Which operating systems will no longer be supported?
From May 1st, WhatsApp will no longer be available on devices that use:
Android 5.0 or earlier
iOS 12 or earlier

Devices that will no longer be supported include:
iPhone 5
iPhone 5C
iPhone 6
Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus
Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Huawei Ascend P6 S
LG Optimus G
Motorola Moto G
Meta reports that these devices cannot handle the new features of the application and are at risk of security vulnerabilities. Most of them were launched around 2013–2014, and their use today is minimal.
