Former Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati has reacted after more than 120 Albanian academics and researchers in the diaspora expressed support for the civic protests in Albania and called for more accountability, transparency and justice in governance.

Through a message, Bushati praised the commitment of the Albanian academic elite abroad, emphasizing that "there is nothing more patriotic than when the cream of the nation in the diaspora expresses readiness for the democratic renewal" of Albania.

According to him, the country needs a new political, economic and social model, based on democracy, the security of citizens, the protection of their rights, equal opportunities for all and an economy that relies on knowledge, solidarity and social cohesion.

Bushati's reaction: There is nothing more patriotic than when the cream of the nation in the diaspora expresses readiness for democratic renewal, a new political, economic and social model for the country. For a new patriotism that protects and promotes democracy in every sphere of power and society. At the core of which is the security of citizens, their rights, equal opportunities for all, an economy based on knowledge, solidarity and social cohesion.

The battle for the democratic renewal of the country has never been easy, nor has it been the effort of a single person. On the contrary, it is a daily collective battle that requires strategy, concentration of forces, ethics, ideas and courage. Our homeland needs a shake-up. The contribution of the diaspora is irreplaceable. 🇦🇱❤️🦩
