Gernot Langes Swarovski, known as the "king of crystals" has passed away at the age of 78 after a serious illness.
For 35 years he ran the company marking even the greatest success in the entire world.
The great-grandson of the founder Daniel Swarovski, was born in Watens, Tyrol in 1943 and at the age of 24 joined the family business board contributing to the further development of the brand not only in the gift items sector.
Under his leadership, the first store in New York opened in the 1980s. Gernot, who has received various honors in Austria, was also president of the football club FC Swarovski Tirol and founder of the Tyrolean Airways airline.
