Who does not remember the famous song 'Memory Machine' by Ardi Gjebrea in the early '90s and the video clip starring a girl. Her name is Fatjona Lubonja and if you want to know about her today, she is neither a model nor an actress. Over the years and leaving Albania to the US where she lives in New Jersey, Fatjona Lubonja has chosen a completely different orientation in her life. She is a neurologist scientist and deals with the study of learning and educating children with disabilities.
Leaving Albania many years ago to live with her husband with an American passport, she raises the question that people often ask: I came to laugh that I have not heard that song for years. Although we are far away, we are very close to many things, I wanted to explain because many people tell me how you changed from the video, I have studied for pedagogy in neuroscience and behavior.
Why did you choose this field?
I started university directly here in the US, my husband had US citizenship. I entered as an American citizen, While studying, the professors actually pushed me because they had seen a talent that even I did not know. I have a kind of talent in detailed observation in various rehabilitations, I understand them very well. I went to work in many schools in Albania because I finished high school there. Okay here I studied biology, science but I can not dismiss the school there.
Since 2009 Fatjona is part of the Institute of Technology in the Atlantic region. She studied at Columbia University in New York and specializes in Harvard. Her career focuses on neuroscience and has received several awards for her research work.
Asked by Rudina how she remembers the time of the video clip, Fatjona says:
The whole shooting was a very enjoyable experience, it was a summer day and we had the opportunity to travel South. In those moments the beaches were unopened, the city of Vlora welcomed us extremely well, that is, the people of Vlora took over. When I was shooting with Bozo, in fact I did not know he was shooting me, so he was shooting me mindlessly. For example I had a conversation with Arditi who has been and is still a great man, we jumped into the sea but we did not know we were shooting and in the end only when we watch the video together. It was a very nice thing.
Rudina Magjistari: You were a very beautiful girl, very cloudy at the time, but then you disappeared immediately and took a completely different journey that had nothing to do with television. Didn't that ever tempt you to pursue an actress career in the US?
No, despite being a very beautiful art, I do not feel it is for me. I like my privacy despite the fact that I was in every Albanian family with that video. Sometimes it is a good thing because it creates memories and recollections of that time. I am very happy that I have walked this way in the US, it is a very big job and I am proud of what I have done.
