"Lie detector" and painful truths, between a couple of "Molotov

On June 12, the premiere of the theatrical play "The Lie Detector" will take place on the stage of the National Theater, a comic-satirical work that brings to the audience a sharp reflection on one of the most widespread phenomena of modern society: lies and self-deception, between a couple who are frantically facing love, passion, addictions, economic impossibilities, and the conflicts that bring all of these together, in a long coexistence.

Director Valdrin Hasani has chosen to collaborate on the work of the Russian author, Vasilij Sigarev, with the extremely talented actors, Çubi Metka, Kejdi Gishto and Erdit Asllanaj, who will bring to life characters full of dynamism, contradictions and comic situations that will make the audience laugh, reflect but also cry in the meantime, with the hidden dramas that each character of this work carries.

Through these characters and family and intimate situations, the work highlights how small, invisible, but persistent lies become survival mechanisms, but also a source of conflicts and strong emotional crises.

At the center of the play - the staging of which was supported by the Municipality of Tirana - stands the figure of the "detector", who claims to discover the absolute truth. But, as the events unfold, it becomes clear that no one is exempt from self-deception. The detector serves as a metaphor for moral authority and the human tendency to judge others, turning the play into a critical reflection of society today.

Through humor and satire, the show encourages public dialogue on essential questions: Is the truth always the best solution? How far can a lie protect us? And when does it become an obstacle to healthy relationships?

The premiere will be held on June 12 at the National Theater, while the performance will continue at the same theater on June 13 and 14. Afterwards, “Lie Detector” will take to the stage of the Metropol Theater on June 19, 20 and 21, while on June 22 and 24 the audience will have the opportunity to watch it at the Experimental Theater.

An intelligent, topical and deeply human comedy, "Lie Detector" promises to be more than a theatrical performance: an invitation to reflect on the truths we hide from others and, often, even from ourselves.
