The US Embassy in Tirana has announced that Albanian parents traveling to the US on tourist visas to give birth to their children there may not be able to renew their visas.
According to the announcement, the use of the Medicaid program causes medical expenses to be covered by American taxpayers.
"Many Albanian parents on tourist visas travel to the United States with the intention of giving birth there and use the Medicaid program to cover medical care. These costs are passed on to American taxpayers, and those parents may not be eligible to renew their visas in the future," the announcement said.
