McAllister: The “Balluku” case, a critical test for Albania in

In a press conference on Wednesday, the Chairman of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, David McAllister, gave details after meetings with Prime Minister Edi Rama, Foreign Minister Elisa Spiropali, representatives of the majority, the Assembly and the opposition. McAllister stressed that the visit comes at a very important moment for Albania and called on politics to keep their hands off justice.

According to McAllister, the test for the socialist majority to show that it is not against the fight against corruption is precisely related to the issue of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku:

"The case involving Deputy Prime Minister Balluku is a critical test for Albania in its fight against corruption."

McAllister admitted that this topic was also discussed in the meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama, but stressed that political decisions are his responsibility:

"This is not only a question related to the legal part, but also to political responsibility and this must be resolved by the Albanian government."
