Oil prices drop, here's how much gasoline will be sold for

The Transparency Board published this Saturday the updated fuel prices in the country. According to the latest decision, diesel will be sold at 185 lek per liter, a decrease of 2 lek compared to the previous price. Gasoline has also been reduced by 1 lek, setting it at 173 lek per liter.
The decision came into effect today, May 29, at 1:00 PM and will remain in effect until the next meeting of the Transparency Board, when prices are expected to be reviewed again depending on market movements.

The Transparency Board on May 29, 2026, at its next meeting, decided:
The retail price of the SSH EN 590 standard diesel by-product shall not exceed 185 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall not exceed 173 lek/liter. The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product shall not exceed 173 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall not exceed 161 lek/liter.
The prices set by the Board will come into effect today, the 29th, at 13:00 and will be valid until the next meeting of the Board where the changes in sales prices will be reflected. We draw the attention of every operator of wholesale and retail sales of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.
In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided. The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and preserving the principles of fair competition in the market.
EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act No. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty level shall be applied. Based on the application of the methodology for calculating the retail price ceiling, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the excise duty level shall be applied in full, 100%.
Gasoline for fishing, the selling price of gasoline for fishing, referred to Law 9975, dated 28.07.2008 “On National Taxes”, in Article 9 “Exemptions from the payment of national taxes”, point 6 it is provided: …“Fishing vessels are exempt from the payment of the turnover tax and the carbon tax. Also referred to Article 10, point 3 letter “d” of Law 61/2012 “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania”, the exemption from excise duties of fuel for fishing vessels is provided, in the quantities, conditions and criteria determined in the Council of Ministers. Referring to the methodology determined in the normative act, the selling price of gasoline for fishing results in 90 lek.
