The first Albanian conductor, the mother of the singer-songwriter Gjergj Leka, dies

Rozmari Jorganxhi passed away at the age of 83, the first Albanian conductor to pass away. She is also the mother of the singer-songwriter, Gjergj Leka. The quilt passed away today, in Trieste, Italy.
For the first time in front of the public as a conductor she has come out with the suite for choir and orchestra "Volunteers" of the brilliant and great composer Tonin Harapi.

Rosemary Quilt started her career in 1959 as a lyrical soloist. He was "mezzosoprano" in TOB and has interpreted professionally at high levels roles from international opera, but also national ones.
From 1967-1984, she conducted the TOB choir, being the first woman conductor of this unique institution of Albanian culture.

In 1993, at the age of 56, Jorganxhi won the audition and started as a professional singer at the "Giusepe Verdi" theater in Trieste, where she sang for 10 years.
Jorganxhi has taught for decades at the University of Music, giving Albanian culture the names of artists in both the field of conducting and canto.

Rosemary was born in a family with musical traditions by her father, "Merited Artist" Gaqo Jorganxhi, who sang for 65 years as a soloist in the city of Korca, since 1920, when the first music societies were established in this city .

He went to study at the Artistic High School "Jordan Misja" in Tirana, where he had as a singing teacher "People's Artist" Marie Kraja. He then went to study at the Moscow Conservatory of Canto. In 2017, at the age of 80, she received the title of "Grand Master".
