Yuri Kim closes her diplomatic chapter after 29 years of service

Former US ambassador, Yuri Kim, has officially concluded her long 29-year career in United States diplomacy.

In a speech to the House of Representatives, Congressman James C. Moylan of Guam commended Kim for her extraordinary contributions, highlighting the integrity, courage, and heart with which she has served.

During her career, Kim has held important posts in U.S. embassies in South Korea, Turkey, Iraq, Japan and China, as well as at the highest levels of the State Department. She played a key role in talks on North Korea's nuclear disarmament and served as ambassador to Albania, where she strengthened diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.

In her last assignment, Kim was the principal deputy assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian Affairs, managing some of the most delicate challenges of global politics.

Moylan described her as an inspiring leader and mentor to new generations in public service. He wished her much success and happiness in this new phase of her life.
