Alternatives to vaccines? AstraZeneca produces medication for coronavirus symptoms

The company that produced the first anti-COVID vaccine, AstraZeneca, is on the verge of launching a drug that greatly reduces the risk of COVID-19 symptoms.
The company is in the final stages of clinical trials and scientists are confident the drug could be launched on the market soon. The drug is a combination of two anti-bodies and from the tests so far prevents symptoms to the extent of 77%.
Mene Pangalos, vice president of AstraZeneca, said that the laboratory findings will soon be published in a scientific journal after being evaluated by the academic community. He reports that the drug has been tried on 5172 participants.
The protection provided by this medication is expected to last about 12 months. This would be the first drug to be offered for the COVID-19 pandemic, at a time when vaccines do not seem to be achieving the desired results, especially with the proliferation of new variants.
