An unusual case of artificial intelligence addiction has been reported in Venice, Italy. According to Italian media, a girl in her 20s turned to the addiction service (Serd) after developing an excessive emotional connection with the artificial intelligence, which she considered the only "friend" who listened to and understood her.

The case was first reported by the Italian media outlet Il Gazzettino. Doctors consider this phenomenon a form of “behavioral addiction,” linked to excessive and uncontrolled use of AI. According to Dr. Laura Suardi, director of Serd in Venice, this is not an isolated case, but a signal of a larger problem that is affecting young people, especially those who feel lonely or emotionally fragile.

Experts explain that artificial intelligence systems can create a sense of understanding and emotional support, as they provide personalized responses based on the information users share with them. In the case of the Italian girl, she was convinced that only AI truly understood and listened to her.

Psychologists warn that artificial intelligence becomes a problem when a person starts to see it as the main point of emotional reference and a replacement for real human relationships. They emphasize the importance of early intervention by family and friends, not only by limiting phone or computer use, but also by seeking professional help if unusual behavior is observed.
