Nude photos of Giorgia Meloni are circulating online, the Prime Minister reacts: They are AI creations

Some unusual images of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni have recently exploded on social media, but she herself has come out publicly to refute them, emphasizing that they are photos manipulated with Artificial Intelligence.
In a reaction on her social media, Meloni published one of these images and warned that such materials have been circulating for days, being used, according to her, for political attacks. She described this content as untrue and potentially dangerous.

"These days, some fake photos of me are being distributed, created with Artificial Intelligence and presented as real. I must admit that in some cases they have 'improved' me, but the problem is deeper: to invent and attack, every means is being used," Meloni writes.
She stressed that the deepfake phenomenon poses a serious risk, as it can manipulate public opinion and harm anyone. “I can protect myself, but many others cannot. That is why we must verify before we believe and think before we share,” she added.
In the same post, the prime minister also shared reactions from social media users, with some harshly criticizing the images, considering them inappropriate for her public persona.
This is not the first time Meloni has faced manipulated content. Similar material has previously circulated on online platforms, prompting Italian authorities to take legal action against the use of deepfakes that cause harm.
In fact, in 2024, Meloni sued two people for publishing fake videos of her on a pornographic website in the US, seeking damages of 100 thousand euros.
Her case is just one example of a broader phenomenon: more and more women in politics are becoming the target of manipulated images and fake content generated by Artificial Intelligence.
