Japan installs heated benches to help homeless people at night

Solar-heated bus benches and shelters, which absorb heat during the day and release it at night, are being tested in Japan to help people who sleep outside.

These structures use special materials that store solar heat and distribute it for up to 12 hours, without the need for fuel or electricity.

The pilot project, which is being developed in Tokyo and Sapporo, aims to reduce the number of emergencies caused by the cold by turning public furniture into a source of warmth and safety for those who need it most.

If successful, this innovation could offer cities a sustainable and low-cost way to make public life more humane even after dark.
