After the land was surrounded with barbed wire a few days ago, the residents of Baks-Rrjoll in Velipojë have gone on a protest, opposing the construction of a tourist resort on land to which they have ownership claims.
For nearly a year, the residents of Baks-Rrjoll have been opposing this project, claiming that a former Shkodra Cadastre official has alienated the ownership certificates, appropriating the land and selling it to the investor who will build the tourist resort opposite the Velipoja coast.
Since January of this year, when the builder began to settle the area with excavators, the residents of Baks-Rrjolli have protested almost every day, physically clashing with the company's employees, as well as with the private guards deployed by the investor. The violent clashes have been followed by numerous escorts and proceedings for the residents of Baks-Rrjolli, while the interventions in the field for the construction have continued, although the case is being followed by the Shkodra Prosecutor's Office. Also, the residents have joined the massive protests in Tirana for 2 weeks, considering the situation as a theft of private property.
