15 years of UMT/ The 2025 Graduation Ceremony marks the start of the jubilee year of the Metropolitan University of Tirana

Metropolitan University of Tirana held the 2025 Graduation Ceremony, one of the most important moments in the academic life of the institution, where hundreds of students successfully completed their studies in the fields of engineering, computer science, architecture, artificial intelligence and economics.

The ceremony took place amidst the energy of the young people and the emotions of the parents, marking at the same time the official launch of the 15th anniversary year of the Metropolitan University of Tirana. This anniversary will be accompanied by a year-long program of academic, scientific, cultural and student activities, which aim to reflect the institution's journey, achievements and vision for the future.

The ceremony was attended by guests of honor from public institutions, representatives of the diplomatic corps, academic leaders, as well as representatives of entrepreneurship and university partners. Present were the Minister of State for Local Government, Mr. Ervin Demo, the Deputy Minister of Education, Ms. Herida Duro, Catherine Veber from the Embassy of France in Albania, Professor Dhori Kule, members of the University Board, as well as other institutional representatives.
During the ceremony, the Rector of Metropolitan University of Tirana, Prof. Dr. Nikolla Civici, addressed the students with a motivational message, emphasizing that the diploma is not simply a formal document, but an instrument that gives young people the opportunity to positively influence society and build their professional future.
In his speech, the President of Metropolitan University of Tirana, Arjan Çukaj, emphasized that the institution's vision is built on three main pillars: scientific research, quality teaching, and internationalization, taking stock of the university's 15 years of development.
"In these 15 years, we have invested above all in young people, offering more than 2,000 scholarships and building a university oriented towards knowledge, innovation and social responsibility. Internationalization has taken on a new dimension with the Doctoral School in Artificial Intelligence, the first in Albania in this field, through cooperation with prestigious French universities such as Grenoble University and Paris-Saclay University. Our vision is to take the next step in this jubilee year with the creation of the Doctoral School in Architecture and Economics, as a strategic investment for the formation of future academic staff and young scientific researchers in Albania, according to the best international practices", said UMT President Arjan Çukaj.
The graduates were also greeted by the Minister of State for Local Government Ervin Demo, who praised the contribution of the Metropolitan University of Tirana to the ecosystem of higher education and innovation in Albania, as well as its role in the formation of young professionals.
"I am convinced that this elite university, and this is also evident from the number that has grown with very careful steps year after year, best demonstrates with you who are graduating today that the future of the university is secure, the future of Albania is secure," said Minister Ervin Demo.
An assessment of the role of the Metropolitan University of Tirana was also given by Catherine Veber, representative of the French Embassy in Albania, who emphasized the importance of partnership with French universities, especially in the field of artificial intelligence and doctoral programs.
"Collaboration in the field of doctoral degrees and scientific research in artificial intelligence positions the Metropolitan University of Tirana as an important academic partner," said Veber.
Deputy Minister of Education Herida Duro praised the efforts for the internationalization of Albanian universities, emphasizing that the Ministry of Education has built a cooperation network with prestigious European universities, such as BOKU University in Austria and the University of Compiègne, specializing in technology and innovation, while commending the Metropolitan University of Tirana for its vision and concrete commitment in this direction.
A special moment was also reserved for excellent students, who were recognized for their academic results in computer science, architecture, economics, and artificial intelligence.
Metropolitan University of Tirana, profiled entirely in exact sciences, offers study programs in computer science, engineering, architecture and economics and is the first university in Albania to offer doctoral studies in the field of artificial intelligence, positioning itself as a reference point in higher education and scientific research in the country.
