One of the most commented moments of the 2026 World Cup final was the greeting between the president of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, and US President Donald Trump in the official stands of the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Sánchez, who had been undecided about his participation until recent days, confirmed on Friday that he would be present at the final. The meeting with Trump immediately attracted attention, as the two leaders have previously had political clashes and exchanges of criticism, especially on issues related to trade, tariffs and international politics.
Also present at the moment of greeting were King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia of Spain, and FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
Precisely because of the tense relations between Sánchez and Trump, the photo of their greeting became one of the most commented images of the World Cup final.
