45 countries, including our country, have published a joint statement to the Human Rights Council at the United Nations, calling on the official Kremlin to release Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
The statement said the arrest was illegal and in violation of human rights, while Navalny was arrested for an act (violation of parole) that was beyond his control (after he was sent abroad for treatment by a chemical poisoning). The UN Human Rights Forum is the most potent international body after the US and EU governments calling for the immediate and unconditional release of Navalny.
