Former President Ilir Meta, who just a day ago completed his 5-year term at the head of the state, has revealed the new name that the Socialist Integration Movement will take.
During the closing speech of the convention of this party, where the changes in the statute are also foreseen that are related to the new name that this political force will receive 18 years after its establishment, Meta said that the new party, which will most likely led by him again, it will be called the Freedom Party.

Part of Ilir Meta's statement at the National Convention:
We created LSI to save the European integration process that blocked Fatos Nano for his customs evasion. It was that rotation thanks to the LSI that Albania signed the Stabilization Association Agreement in 2006. The LSI did everything for the status and for getting the recommendation, but you know where we are now there is only one way, the referendum is the guarantee that Albania will be Albanians. Therefore, I invite you from the LSI party to the Freedom Party, to the sovereignty party, to the referendum party.

LSI was created on September 6, 2004. Ilir Meta was the chairman of LSI since its foundation, but with the election of the latter as the President of Albania, Petrit Vasili was elected as the head of the party in April 2017. After the results of the elections of June 25, 2017, Vasili resigned, proposing Monika Kryemadhi as president.
