Meta talks about "breaking" the relationship with Nano: He gave himself completely to power

For President Ilir Meta, the loss of commitment to the country's European integration has been the reason for "breaking" the relationship with Fatos Nano. As he shows in an interview for the show "Opinion", the main mistake of Fatos Nano was that after 2004 he completely gave up power and according to the president, this was his main mistake.
Excerpts from the interview:
Your relationship with Nano in 15 years has been very contradictory. Somewhere you approached somewhere you left. What has not worked between you?
Meta: I do not believe it was a matter of personal relations. We have cooperated and had debates on various issues, but I believe that at the end of the day my behavior towards him has been very correct.
Why did you break up with Nano in 2004?
Meta: I have made it clear, our break came because Nano, for various reasons, lost the commitment needed for the country's European integration. We made an agreement, he became Prime Minister, I became Deputy Prime Minister and we decided to elect the president together with the DP and I would follow the agreement. But once the deal was done, the government was not fulfilling those commitments it had to fulfill.
Was your last meeting tense?
Meta: I do not think he was tense, I was clear.
Did Rama play a role in the clash between you and Nano?
Meta: I can not say that, the important thing for me was to walk in that process.
How would you define Nano's contribution to politics?
Meta: If there was more will and would have wanted to hear more truths, there would have been a greater contribution and Albania would be in a completely different situation in relation to the EU. His role in the opening of the SP is indisputable, even in the resistance he maintained during his period of political imprisonment, and even after that he made positive efforts. But after 2004 he completely gave up on power and for me it was the main mistake.
