Municipality of Tirana memorandum of cooperation with the Albanian Investment
The Municipality of Tirana and the Albanian Investment Corporation (AIC) sign a Memorandum of Understanding to promote development policies and new ventures, especially in the field of digital technology.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj underlined that the free economic zone in Kashar is one of these spaces where businesses can develop their potentials.

"I am glad that the Albanian Investment Corporation, together with the Municipality of Tirana, start this agreement today. We have some fantastic opportunities, one of them is the free economic zone in Kashar. We have received the status, but in fact we need you, to recruit potential clients. Some have started to come by themselves, such as some data centers, automotive companies, but we need to populate all that space with companies that pay better, with jobs that are more sophisticated, that have added value throughout the chain economic development of the country ", declared Veliaj.

Mayor Veliaj said that this is a very important moment for economic development, to see about the professions of the future.

"The question we have today is: What will be Tirana and Albania in 2050? It will be that of our parents who made and sewed shirts and shoes or did lets say simple assembly work, or we will do more sophisticated work, digital work, better paid work and work that can be done even remotely, without "forced someone to go to Italy, Germany or look for the future elsewhere," he said.

Veliaj underlined that 2022, when Tirana will be the European Capital of Youth, is a fantastic opportunity for investments with a focus on youth.

"Next year we will be the European Capital of Youth, a fantastic opportunity for the economic aspect as well. Many young people at this stage are only thinking about the cultural part, but I believe it is an opportunity to do a little more than that and beyond entertainment, we need to think hard about the youth economy and the jobs that young people today are looking for them en masse, as they can be in the field of technology, coding, digital start-ups. Some organizations such as, how will Tirana become more attractive for digital nomads, how will we make sure that many of the start-ups become stay-ups, so not only are they born, but also stay in the market; how will we create a culture for those who are called angel investors ", underlined the mayor Veliaj.

The representative of AIC, Ermal Frashëri, praised the cooperation with the Municipality of Tirana, which according to him will provide the opportunity to explore and diversify economic projects.
