She was only 15 years old when she boarded a plane to London alone with a dream

Her name was Dua Lipa. She was born in London in 1995, to Albanian parents who fled Kosovo during the war. Since she was little, she lived between two worlds: at home she spoke Albanian and listened to Albanian culture, while outside she tried to adapt to London life.

As a child, he discovered that he loved music more than anything else. He tried singing at school, but one day his teacher said something that would hurt him for years: You're not meant to sing.

For many people, that would be enough to make them give up. But not for him.

At the age of 11, the family returned to Kosovo. The country still bore the scars of war, and Dua did not feel fully part of that life. The older she got, the more she realized that her dream could not stay there.

So, at the age of 15, she made the scariest decision of her life: she returned to London alone.

She lived in difficult conditions and worked non-stop. During the day, she worked as a waitress and model just to make ends meet. At night, she recorded covers and posted them online, hoping that someone, somewhere, would listen to her.

And one day, someone heard it.

In 2017, she released the song "New Rules," and everything changed. The song became a global hit and she became one of the most popular artists in the world.

But success did not stop the criticism.

In 2018, after her performance at the Brit Awards, the internet erupted in mockery. One comment went viral:
"Well done girl, give us nothing."

For a while, she disappeared from social media. She closed in on herself. But instead of giving up, she worked harder than ever.

When she returned with "Don't Start Now," people saw a completely different version of her: more confident, stronger, and unstoppable. Her performance was so good that those who once mocked her were now applauding her.

She never changed her dream.
She only changed the way the world saw it.

And today, millions of people sing the songs of the girl they once heard: You're not meant for this.
