Nicki Minaj shut down Instagram, but not because she lost 10 million followers

For several days now, news has been circulating online that Nicki Minaj deactivated Instagram after strong reactions to her appearance at Turning Point USA's AmericaFest, where she appeared alongside Erika Kirk. However, the facts tell a different story.

Although fans noticed that the @nickiminaj profile was inactive at the end of December, it turns out that her account was deactivated much earlier, specifically on October 20, 2025. This means that the Instagram shutdown is not related to the reactions after the event.

There is also no verified evidence that Nicki Minaj lost 10 million followers after AmericaFest. Before the deactivation, she had around 223.8 million followers, and the claim of a massive drop remains unconfirmed.

Minaj was criticized after she praised President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance during the event, calling them “role models for young people.” Her appearance was interpreted by many as a nod to MAGA politics, which sparked heated debate on social media.
