Mundësia Party MP Agron Shehaj has been suspended from the Assembly for 60 days. The decision was made by the Secretariat for Procedures, Voting and Ethics, following a request submitted by 13 MPs of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group.
The disciplinary measure comes after an incident that occurred on Monday during the plenary session, when Shehaj took a classified secret document related to the loan agreement between Albania and the United States of America. The Socialists considered the action a serious violation of the regulation and demanded not only the taking of disciplinary measures, but also the referral of the matter to SPAK.
After taking it, Shehaj ran away from the Parliament premises. Meanwhile, one of the Parliament employees ran after him, but was unable to catch him after he fell down the stairs.
