From April, England will ban the sale of energy drinks with high caffeine concentrations to young people under the age of 16. The decision has been announced by the British government and is still expected to receive final approval in Parliament.
The ban will apply to shops, restaurants, cafes, vending machines and online commerce platforms.
Businesses that fail to comply with the new rules could face fines of up to £2,500.
The move comes amid concerns about the impact of high caffeine consumption on children and adolescents. In the European Union, six countries have already imposed similar restrictions on the sale of these drinks to minors.
