The new Commercial Port in Porto Romano will be launched by 2023

Prime Minister Edi Rama and Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku are presenting the project of the new Commercial Port of Durrës in Porto Romano.
During her speech, Balluku states that the port will cover the needs of Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia in the next 4 decades and will start within 2023.
"The railway lines between Albania, North Macedonia and Kosovo, or the creation of dry ports, which will change the economic landscape. We carried out a two-year technical work and we did it with the help of the leading company in this work. It is a transformational investment. Through the commercial port and the waterfront and the yacht marina in Durrës, we are building a port complex. Fully modernized, which will be state-owned, and the Port Authority of Durrës will oversee all activities.
It is a strategic project that will cover the needs of Albania, North Macedonia and Kosovo for the next 4 decades. It is not a big copy of Durrës, but a new modern investment that will cover the requirements of the next 4 decades with a technology that has not been applied here. In this 390 million euro investment that employs 1,500 people, attention has been paid to the interconnection of the railway terminals. The two ports will be connected together, but also with the lines coming to Tirana. 46% will be provided by the state, 54% by the builder. After this is chosen by consensus. The port authority of Durrës will be reimbursed. I will compete internationally, for all companies. The competition process will close in July 2023." said Balluk.
