David Grossman: If Netanyahu wins, Israel becomes unlivable

At the Turin International Book Fair, Israeli writer David Grossman presented the publication "Meridiani Mondadori" dedicated to his work and provided strong reflections on literature, society and war.

He spoke about the concept of “raz,” a Hebrew word meaning “secret,” but also something deeper: the hidden essence of every person, every book, and every situation. According to him, understanding this essence requires time, attention, and sensitivity.

Grossman also addressed the state of Israeli society, which he described as increasingly “messianic and irrational.” He criticized the reality of the conflict, saying that Israel lives in a fragile and contradictory situation.

"We are both occupiers and democrats. It is an abnormal, confused and deeply wrong situation. We must find a way to interrupt this reality," he said.

In the interview, he warned that if Benjamin Netanyahu wins again, Israel could become an unlivable country, highlighting his concern about the country's political and social direction.

Essentially, his message in Turin was a call for reflection on literature, humanity, and moral responsibility in times of conflict.
