The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj inspected the start of the works for the reconstruction of Saint Prokop's Church in the Lake Park. With the resolution of the property problem, Veliaj said that the Orthodox believers will very soon have a new church, which will return to its identity as it was once, with the same capacity.
"After a 30-year ordeal for property and use issues, we have finally resolved the problem, and all the faithful will soon have a new Church of St. Procopius, to return to the way it was, with the same capacity, but of course, now as a restored building as a Church, no longer as the improvisation we have had these 30 years. This is how we restore history to its place, reverse an injustice and stop improvisations. In the House of God, especially in a city like Tirana, there is room for everyone and this will truly be a big house, open to everyone, even for believers, of course they have the primary interest to worship, but of course also for the city, since there will also be a community center, where the city also benefits from a public space", said Veliaj.

Archbishop Anastas Janullatos expressed his gratitude to the Mayor of Tirana for the reconstruction of Saint Prokop's Church. "If its stones could tell, they would tell us the whole history of our city; if they were tape recorders that could record, they would tell us the whole history of our city. We are grateful to our beloved chairman, Mr. Veliaj, for the efforts that were made, which gave the opportunity to the Church to be rebuilt in this place after 30 years. Saint Prokopi will be open to everyone. The new church will be in harmony with the beauty of the country here and be something special for the city of Tirana. It will be in the center of Tirana, a place of truth, a place of love and a place of beauty", said Archbishop Anastas Janullatos.
