Tirana will soon have fast bus lines, here's where and how they will work

The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, in this week's video message where he spoke about the traffic problem in the capital, said that the implementation of the "Bus Rapid Transit" bus line project will soon begin.

"Very soon, the implementation of the "Bus Rapid Transit" project, or otherwise in Albanian, "Fast Bus Line" will start in Tirana. This innovative public transport system will affect the main lines of the city, which will include Kinostudio-Kombinat, the Ring Road and the New Tirana line", stated Veliaj.

The three main benefits from this project, according to Veliaj, will be:

1. Doubling the speed of the buses, from 9-9.5 to 20 km/h.

2. The time of a complete cycle that a city bus takes will be halved, from the 54 minutes that the Ring takes to 24 minutes.

3. Transport capacity will increase from 9 thousand passengers per hour to 23 thousand passengers per hour.
