Nancy Brilli: The pain of losing my mother damaged my memory

On the verge of turning 60, the famous Italian actress Nancy Brilli remembers the pain of her mother's death. She was only 10 years old at the time.

"The pain was so great, tragic and shocking, that I completely erased it. I don't remember anything. I have never been able to see my mother in my dreams, and at a time when I was trying hard to keep a memory of her, I even tried hypnosis: no luck. "Everything is buried under layers and layers of the subconscious and nothing has ever come to light," she said.
Working as an actress, following her passion, has been the only thing that has eased her pain.

"As a young girl, I was afraid of people, I was very alone, I wasn't allowed to go out, I didn't have many friends. Today if I want to be alone I decide, it's my choice. I'm sorry I don't have good childhood memories. They tell me that I was a very good child, always drawing, immersed in her artistic world, as a teenager I was very worried and suffered", concluded Brilli.
