Boulevard "Zogu I" to become one of the most attractive destinations in Tirana

The whole segment of the Zogu I Boulevard, from the former Train Station to Skanderbeg Square, is expected to change thanks to the new investment of the Municipality of Tirana, which along the new road, foresees facade rehabilitation, pavement expansion, playgrounds, benches, fountains, bike lanes, etc. After inspecting the works, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, said that "Zogu I" Boulevard will become one of the most attractive destinations in the city.
“I am very happy to have launched the works in this boulevard, which will connect two unique objects and icons of our city, the new Skanderbeg Square with the New Boulevard. The "Zogu I" Boulevard was starting to look like no man's land, between these two iconic objects. At last, we will have the same quality, both on the New Boulevard and Skanderbeg Square, as well as on "Zogu I" Boulevard, which I believe will become one of the most attractive destinations in our city ", said Veliaj.
Veliaj stated that the whole boulevard is conceived as a commercial destination, while the beneficiary is the community on both sides of this boulevard, with access to a shopping street, a market area with plenty of shops, mini squares, in each of the open spaces between the building compounds. Hence, the residents will greatly benefit from this investment, from the re-decoration of the buildings, starting with the plaster, in some places the roof, and others the gardens in front of the buildings, the paint, unification of not only the facades vertically, but also horizontally, thus increasing the value of the citizen's property.
Alongside the extension, the sidewalks will be paved with the same material as the road, with white stone asphalt, conceived as a unique space, and as a large square, a continuation of Skanderbeg Square. "Given that sidewalks are a democratic space, expanding them where allowed, will bring cars underground to New Boulevard or Skanderbeg Square, which is a priority for us. We will release a tremendous amount of space for pedestrians and I believe in all the piazzas that will be created, starting from the small corner next to the photographer Rreli, to the other pocket that is conceived as a typical Albanian village or at the end, the academic space between the University and Maternity, thus creating 3 squares, also icons for our city ”, Veliaj declared.
But one of the innovations of this project is the construction of an underground gallery, where in the event of a breakdown, the road will no longer be needed, but everything will be repaired by technicians in record time. “ There will be a number of interventions, the main thing is to build a gallery. Just as we have the gallery below "Skanderbeg Square" and "New Boulevard", for all utilities, mainly energy, a similar gallery will be on "Zogu I" Boulevard. We have a year and a half at our disposal to finish works, but I believe that within a year we will completely finish what will probably be one of the most beautiful investments of the second term of the Municipality of Tirana ”, said the Mayor.
A direct beneficiary of this investment is the Faculty of Natural Sciences. Veliaj assured that the Faculty of Natural Sciences not only has not lost the Botanical Garden, but thanks to the Municipality of Tirana, there will already be a quality space on Zogu I Boulevard.
The 'Zogu I' boulevard project is not only a boulevard, it is conceived as a mix of public spaces that will not only be used as a passageway or promenade, but also as a heap of parks for leisure and rest. / Tiranapost.al
